STDs
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), or sexually transmitted infections (STIs), are infections that are passed from one person to another through sexual contact.
They are usually spread during vaginal, oral, or anal sex.
When STIs are treated early, you can prevent many of the negative outcomes of STIs, including infertility in both men and women.
That is why testing and treatment is important for sexually active people and for pregnant women.
